![]() Spectrum is what we call our adult "Sunday school" educational process at Evangelical Community Church. It is our attempt to create a healthy Sunday morning, intergenerational, adult "learning community" with around table, coffee shop atmosphere. We believe that community is created through conversation: the art of listening, learning and sharing. As such, we desire that this conversational learning process will move us well beyond lecture and mere head knowledge about God into community conversations about our relationships with God. Spectrum is a trimester process. Each session lasts four months. Our Fall and Spring sessions offer sixdistinct courses -each taught by facilitators. These classes are held entirely within our six adult classrooms. Our Summer process begins with a presentation in the sanctuary, and then moves into the class rooms for discussion.Come join us at 9:00 AM on Sunday morning as we seek to know the heart of our God and to serve Him together! |
Living in ColorWhen we touch our community with the truth and light of God's revelation, it is as if we are living in color for the community around us. Since we call ourselves a community church, we have a responsibility to reach out and minister to our community. We want to make God known, but we cannot make Him known if we do not know Him well. Many of us know many things about God. Our prayer is that we might go further, and really come to know God better together. Otherwise, we may never be able to live in color and make Him known to our community. We are praying that Spectrum will put us in sync with both our purpose statement and our core values which state that we want to nurture, equip and empower our church in order to bring God's love and the good news of the gospel to our community and to the world. As you choose your class, pray with us that you will make a selection that enables you to come to know your God and to live in color. Spectrum Classes |
About the Spectrum Theme
In a way, the Church is like a prism. When the pure white light of God's revelation enters into our presence, it refracts and disperses into a variety of colors. A spectrum of rainbow light begins inside our prism and is dispersed to the community around us. When these colors reach the community, they blend together again revealing the bright white light of God's truth to those in darkness. |

When pure white light enters into a prism, the light refracts at different angles and disperses or bends into a rainbow of colors. This rainbow of light is called a spectrum and is made up of seven colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.
